Eye Surgery Aftercare: Drops, Hygiene, Activity & Warning Signs
01
Using eye drops
Wash your hands and avoid touching the bottle tip to your eye. Follow the prescribed schedule and ask the treating team how to space different drops or handle a missed dose; do not change doses on your own.
02
Hygiene rules
No rubbing. Keep soap, shampoo and dirty water out of the eye. Sleep on the side advised. Shield the eye if instructed.
03
Activity timeline
Screens and reading: as comfortable. Dust, lifting, swimming and eye makeup: restricted for the period your surgeon specifies.
04
Warning signs to act on
Increasing pain, worsening redness, discharge, sudden vision change, flashes or a shadow may need urgent assessment. Contact your surgical team or seek urgent eye care rather than waiting for a routine review.
